Our Heritage & Expertise

Forty Years of Passion. A Lifetime of Engineering.

Aston Martin Restoration Experts

Since 1980, Goldsmith & Young has been defined by a singular obsession: the preservation of the Aston Martin marque.

Born from the Track

Goldsmith & Young was formed in 1980 by John Goldsmith. It wasn’t started as a business venture, but as a “trade” platform to restore and race his own Series V DB4 Vantage—one of only six cars originally supplied by the factory with a GT engine.

From these humble beginnings as a specialist racing outlet, the company has evolved into one of the UK’s leading independent Aston Martin specialists. Today, we operate from a 6,000 sq ft facility, but our core philosophy remains unchanged: providing uncompromising engineering for the world’s most iconic motorcars.

A Personal Passion: The Cars of John Goldsmith

“I have been privileged enough to own, drive, and race many Aston Martins. Each car taught me something new about the engineering of the marque.”

John Goldsmith

  • The First Love (429 NOU): A Red Series V DB4 bought for £2,000 in 1974 when John was a submariner in the Royal Navy. This car “completed the circle” when it returned to our workshop decades later for maintenance.
  • The Racing Bug (4 AYO): A DB4 lightweight racer that achieved numerous successes in the early 90s and was the first to ever house a 4.5L engine.
  • The Innovator (OAY 555F): The world’s only lightweight racing DB6, built from a “basket case” found in a barn.
  • Modern Competition (1 AM): An N24 V8 Vantage (Chassis #008), one of only 15 built at Gaydon, taking the GYL legacy into modern endurance racing.
