Since 1980, we have saved countless “lost causes”—abandoned chassis and boxes of parts—transforming them into celebrated examples of the marque. Today, our purpose-built workshop offers a complete in-house ecosystem for the restoration, maintenance, and enhancement of the post-war Aston Martin.
Coachwork & Accident Repair
In the unfortunate event of an accident, we provide a complete “one-stop” solution to return your pride and joy to its former glory.
European Collection:
We arrange collection from anywhere in the UK or Europe.
Insurance Management:
We prepare detailed estimates and negotiate directly with insurers to ensure a fair price that compromises nothing on quality.
Traditional Skills:
Our panel beaters are masters of the English Wheel, capable of hand-forming aluminium panels and repairing Superleggera chassis structures to factory specifications.
Engine & Drivetrain Remanufacture
Our engine shop is renowned for building power units that blend period-correct aesthetics with modern reliability and performance.
Engine Upgrades:
From standard rebuilds to 4.2L and 4.5L capacity increases for 6-cylinder models. We routinely perform unleaded conversions and cylinder head porting for improved gas flow.
Transmission:
We specialise in rebuilding DB4/DB5 ZF gearboxes (standard and race spec) and maintain a stock of rare V8 gearbox parts.
Rear Axle:
Complete in-house reconditioning, including Limited Slip Differential (LSD) installation, ratio changes, and hub uprating for racing loads.
The Machine Shop & Fabrication
When parts are no longer available, we make them. Our efficient in-house machine shop allows us to save “irrecoverable” components and fabricate bespoke solutions.
Racing Mods:
Lightened flywheels/clutches and bespoke fabrication for rally preparation.
Reclaiming Castings:
Machining reconditioned water pumps, sumps, and cylinder blocks with Helicoil inserts to extend their service life.
Exhausts:
Fabrication of uprated stainless steel exhaust systems.
Rare Parts Sourcing & Tooling
Supply chains for 1950s and 60s vehicles can be volatile. To ensure our projects never stall, Goldsmith & Young has invested heavily in tooling to remanufacture obsolete castings.
Exclusive Stock:
We supply hard-to-find items such as GT petrol fill flaps and GT distributor housings.
Inventory:
We hold a comprehensive stock of usable second-hand parts, including original aluminium body panels that are impossible to buy new.

Pre-Purchase Inspections: Avoiding an expensive mistake is worth far more than the cost of an inspection. We travel across the UK and Europe to inspect potential purchases, providing verbal advice or full written reports to ensure the car you buy matches the vendor’s description.
Transport & Secure Storage: We offer a “white glove” service for your vehicle.

Options ranging from economical barn storage for restoration candidates to secure, high-end industrial units for finished vehicles, complete with startup and maintenance programs.

Our capability is best demonstrated by our current commissions. We are currently finalising a stunning DB4GT Zagato recreation, built on a DB4 donor chassis.
- Specs: 4.2L twin-plug engine (unleaded spec), 4-speed manual with overdrive, and full FIA-compliant roll cage and safety systems.
- Status: Body dry-fitted and ready for paint in the client's colour of choice.
